Role:
The successful Engineer will be involved with the petroleum engineering and field development planning of international oil projects. The position is located in Calgary.
In this capacity you will provide the technical team with daily production engineering support and liaison with production engineering in.
In addition production and exploitation support will be required on attractive development projects. You will be responsible for, but not limited to, conducting production studies, development planning in conventional, secondary and EOR projects, economic evaluations, technology review and project implementation. Some international travel will be required.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of diverse engineering in exploitation, production engineering and petroleum economics
- BSc in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline. APEGGA membership required
- Must have cold heavy oil production engineering experience
- Experience in heavy oil waterfloods and secondary recovery is an asset
- Thermal EOR experience is an asset
- Experience in oil field development work
- The ability to work several assignments simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, data manipulation and communication skills required
- Field operations experience is an asset
- International experience would also be an asset but not required
Responsible for:
- Provide production engineering co-ordination with field offices
- Assist the VP Exploitation and Senior Exploitation Engineers as required
- Part of a multi-disciplinary team to redevelop and optimize existing producing assets through well optimization, equipment optimization, cost control initiatives, infield vertical, directional and horizontal drilling activities, application of secondary, tertiary and enhanced (thermal) recovery techniques in sandstone and unconsolidated sand formations
- Identify technically sound and economically viable development activities
- Preparation of regulator applications and plans of development for production sharing agreements
- Provide production engineering support on special projects
- Will require reserves evaluations as part of reserves team
- May require routine supervision of simulation studies and engineering related contractors on special projects
- Stay abreast of new development practices, technologies and competitor activities
